For the fourth season, we held our popular ‘Win a Training Session’ competition with Edinburgh Rugby. Junior teams benefited from the expertise of Edinburgh Rugby stars; Pierre Schoeman, Duhan Van Der Merwe, Boan Venter, D'Arcy Rae and Ben Healy.
The exciting event brought together four junior sides from across Scotland: Dundee U14s, Highland boys U13s, Dumfries Saints P7 (mixed) and Dunbar U14 girls – as well as lots of proud parents and coaches who watched from the stands.
The winners of the competition were put through their paces in Hive Stadium before putting their questions to the players with an interesting Q&A and signing/selfie session.
Neil Macpherson – Dunbar U14 girls commented: “On behalf of Dunbar dragons U14's girls a massive thank you to Edinburgh rugby and Scottish Building Society for Tuesday 15th's events. Giving these girls every opportunity to better themselves for confidence and believing in themselves to do better not only at rugby but with life.
"The feedback from all the parents and players has been amazing and a wonderful experience for everyone involved and the club. Experiences like this will last forever and give the girls and the boys attended the event experiences they will treasure for a lifetime.”
"It’s great to be able to hold these events with Edinburgh Rugby, and it’s clear to see how much it means to the kids who take part. Hopefully it encourages them to stay involved in the game."
Paul Denton, chief executive, Scottish Building Society said: “When we first launched the programme back in 2021, we wanted to give youth teams a ‘once in a lifetime’ experience, giving back to young players to inspire the next generation of rugby stars.
“The coaches and players were fantastic and I'm glad they all enjoyed their day out.”“We have now given over 20 clubs the chance to train in an elite environment and inspired over 500 young rugby players with training sessions with their heroes.
